The European Commission has announced that the Entry & Exit System (EES) for biometric passport checks will commence on October 12, 2025, with mandatory implementation by April 2026.

Germany has rejected the European Commission's €2 trillion budget proposal, stating an increase is unacceptable given current efforts to consolidate national budgets.

"There is no stop the clock. There is no grace period. There is no pause." So said Thomas Regnier, a spokesman for the European Commission, in response to calls for a pause on the EU's AI Act.

"Water resilience is a pressing issue that should be addressed by the Commission, but the Commission should also recognize not only the significant work that the sector has done but also the need for collaboration to enhance sustainable water usage across all industries."

The commission is responsible for trade on behalf of the EU's 27 member states, and is seeking a steer on how to approach the economically critical talks with the White House.

"The members of the European Parliament shouldn't be fooled into thinking that if they remove this article that that's going to somehow amount to a reduction in regulatory burden."
