The ACLU filed a suit on behalf of Louisiana voting rights groups, asking a state court to block the state's governor and secretary of state from suspending congressional elections.
The Supreme Court's conservative bloc deemed it unconstitutional because it had been drawn using racial criteria. In light of that ruling, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry declared on Thursday that the current map is illegal and therefore cannot be used in the primaries.
