The ACLU filed a suit on behalf of Louisiana voting rights groups, asking a state court to block the state's governor and secretary of state from suspending congressional elections.
"I was just wrong. It was wildly different than the first Trump administration. There was just a sense that this was not going to be the same. And then in the Voting Section, what happened is they just started dismissing cases."
Indiana attorney general Todd Rokita stated that the decision marks a 'BIG WIN for Election Integrity.' He emphasized that this commonsense protection is needed to close loopholes and prevent potential fraud by out-of-state or ineligible voters.
"This decision will have devastating consequences for our electoral system for decades to come," said Adrianne Spoto, Counsel for Voting Rights at SCSJ. "When young voters casting their first ballots see them rejected for technical snafus, it creates a disincentive for future participation."
