A man from Brooklyn has been charged with harassment and unlawful imprisonment of a woman in Queens.
The incident first unfolded at about 9 p.m. on Nov. 20, 2025, near Drumgoole Road and Foster Road in Prince's Bay, according to a criminal complaint. Baret was seated in a 2010 Hyundai Elantra with a woman who was known to him when he punched her multiple times, before forcing her into the backseat of the car, the complaint continued. The defendant jumped in the driver's seat and drove off from the location, rendering the woman unable to escape, prosecutors said.
An investigation found that Lori A. Maricle, 31, locked the 6-year-old girl inside a closet and pushed a heavy wooden dresser in front of the door so she couldn't get out, police said. Maricle left the home for about an hour, leaving the girl confined in the dark closet. She also left two other children - a 2-year-old and a 7-month-old - unsupervised in the home, police said.
