Fresh snow is what turns ordinary runs into powder days, and every skier knows the thrill of waking up to see a few extra inches (or feet) on the mountain report.

Revelstoke is on track for about 19 cm to 30 cm of snow, with snow quality improving after each pulse as colder air settles in and winds generally staying manageable for skiing.

Confidence is strongest from Tuesday morning March 24 through Thursday morning March 26, when falling snow levels should shift the advantage to Whistler and the Washington Cascades, with Mt Baker and Whistler favored for around 10″-18″ and lighter amounts farther south.

The first wave is underway Friday and stays most productive through Saturday for the Alberta Rockies, with guidance tightly clustered on onset timing but looser on how far west the better snowfall bands reach.

The proposed two-stage gondola will start in the base area, stop at the Merry-Go-Round restaurant, and continue to Cloud Nine Alpine Bistro, rising 2,700 vertical feet. A wild video from Washington state shows just how dangerous deep snow can be, even on what looks like a wide-open ski run. The footage, shot at Snoqualmie Pass Ski Area, captures a man completely buried headfirst in nearly four feet of fresh snow after a major storm. He was unable to move, with only his skis visible above the surface, while other riders rode by, offering no concern or help.

When Salt Lake City landed the 2002 Olympics, organizers promised to sustain the vast infrastructure built for the occasion, using it for years to come. Not only is much of it going to come into play again for 2034, but we will see nearly 40% more events than in 2002, including (freestyle ski and snowboard) Slopestyle, Big Air, Women's Ski Jumping, Ski Cross, Mixed Team Snowboard Cross and a much higher-profile Paralympics.
